Nikon introduced the Noct-Nikkor lens in 1977, in an effort to create a technical marvel optimized for nocturnal (low-to-no light) use. They did just that, soon it gained a reputation among photographers and the legend was born.
The 58mm Noct was discontinued in 1997. Less than 12,000 authentic lenses were made by Nikon making this one rare to find in any condition. This Nikkor lens has been so successful that many black market copies were made over the years making it very difficult to find an authentic lens in good condition. TM Camera Solutions sourced 100% authentic 58mm f/1.2 Noct lenses that were in excellent to mint optical condition. This resulted in a very limited number of lenses that made the cut to become the 58mm Nikkor-Noct T1.3 PL Cinema Lens. The original photography lens has a 22” close focus however this cinema design has allowed for a close focus of only 13”. This new close focus will allow for spectacular nearly 3-dimensional looking images when combined with the natural field curvature of the lens and use of large format sensors.
